Extraction of Crystalline and Intra-ocular Lens Implant
It consists of, through a micro-incision, remove all the content of the lens by phacoemulsification and implant within it, an intraocular lens, which corrects the refractive defect.
The lens in these age groups is a lens that has lost function, is a factor of refractive instability and degradation of the quality of vision, so it is justified to replace it with an artificial lens (intraocular lens) that corrects vision and improves its quality.
Depending on the conditions of each specific case, the lens to be implanted may be monofocal (correcting only distant vision) or multifocal (correcting eyesight far and near).
This surgery is performed with topical anesthesia, through the application of drops. It is painless and performed on an outpatient basis. It is not necessary to use stitches and the eye does not need to be covered after surgery.
A complete recovery of uncorrected vision is usually achieved in less than 24 hours.
